Novated lease

Why this matters. A car through salary packaging changes the pre-tax and post-tax amounts. This page runs the amounts you type through the resident tax sketch. It does not decide fringe benefits tax, and it does not say a car is cheaper.

The packaged dollars come off one employer’s salary. The tax rate is on your total income. An employer share, if the quote has one, is taken out of the saving.

0 % to 100 % · A quote figure. NSW Health’s own sum is not always this percent, and it depends on the award.

You keep

$8,460FY2026–27

Tax saved $8,460 − employer share $0

About 47% in the dollar on the last dollar of total income, including the 2% Medicare levy. You do not need the hospital salary alone to be in the top bracket. You do need the hospital salary to cover the packaged amount.

Tax before $144,470. Tax after packaging $136,010. Income tax and the 2% levy only.
